The Gruffalo’s Child event

Thanks to everyone who came to The Gruffalo’s Child event yesterday.  It was a huge success, with around 270 people enjoying the Gruffalo activities. Tam, Emma and Andy gave us a unique experience of The Gruffalo’s Child story and song which included music and puppets. You can watch it here if you missed it.  Valerie Miller designed and made the Gruffalo’s Child costume which she has donated to the campaign. Robbie Carruthers did a fantastic job of being the Gruffalo’s Child and so did Liz Carruthers who was The Gruffalo – the children were fascinated by the sleeping Gruffalo in the cave!  Thanks to Jane, the Head Teacher at Westbourne Gardens nursery school who has been at every Children’s Wood event supporting us.  This week it was mouse masks for children to make. Well done to Grace on winning the Gruffalo’s Child book and toy donated by Waterstones book shop. Thanks to all our other helpers who made the day a success.

We have various events on in July, you can find out more in our events section. We run a playgroup in The Children’s Wood every Wednesday 10-12pm – it’s £1. We welcome all parents and children  (Like most outdoor environments, we find that the Children’s Wood is more challenging when your child in in the ‘crawling’ phase ).  We are now on Facebook and Twitter, do have a look and ‘like’ or ‘follow’ us to keep up-to-date with everything that’s going on in The Children’s Wood. We value your feedback and suggestions about our events – please get in touch if you have any thoughts about this.

Hope to see you soon!
