Beedookit

About Beedookit

Beedookit is an arts and environment project created by the late Kathleen Friend. The initiative is inspired by vernacular doocot architecture to invent something new for urban beekeepers. Kathy, in collaboration with local volunteers, has brought her project to The Children’s Wood and North Kelvin Meadow. The project is the first of its kind to use the dookit concept to house honey bees on community land.

Sadly, Kathy passed away in early 2023. With the beedookit, Kathy leaves a legacy of community spirit and environmental education. Her good work will be continued on the land.
