Thanks to everyone who signed and shared the petition, sent in pictures, and promoted the campaign. The ministers now have our petition and are in the process of making a decision about whether to ‘call-in’ the planning application to build housing on North Kelvin Meadow and The Children’s Wood. See below for information on the call in process.
It is important we keep up the momentum and this means continuing to share the petition and writing letters to the Government. Please only write to your local MSP and ministers who have an official role.
We have constructed a Template letter. Please personalise this letter to fit with your own experiences and views. It will be much more powerful if you add in your own personal touch. You can send letter to ministers and your local MSP. Please see the list for official ministers to write to:

What is a ‘call-in’?” This is a power which allows Ministers to make the decision on a planning application, rather than the planning authority to which the application was made.”
Scottish Ministers rely on an independent reporter working for the Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA), to examine the merits of a called-in application. The reporter considers the application, prepares a report setting out their conclusions and recommends whether Scottish Ministers grant permission unconditionally, grant permission subject to conditions or refuse permission. The report is then submitted to Scottish Ministers for their decision, which does not have to follow the reporter’s recommended course of action.
Ultimately it is the ministers who will decide whether to reject the development plan – so please keep on sending letters, signing petitions and visiting surgeries.
