I have been involved with the Children’s Wood for several years, both as a teacher and a local resident. As a teacher, I see the impact that having the Children’s Wood around the corner can make. From giving inspiration for writing in Literacy, to investigating area in Maths and promoting a love of nature. The opportunities are endless. I joined the Education Committee, where we produced packs to encourage teachers and practitioners to value the outdoors as a way of enhancing children’s learning. As a local resident, I love having the Children’s Wood and North Kelvin Meadow on my doorstep. The feeling of wild space and nature, in a busy city, is something to be treasured.
